The AI Act, which came into force in August 2024, will serve as the basis for the regulation of AI systems in the EU and will supplement the General Data Protection Regulation with specific measures. For breaches of the rules by users of AI-based systems, the EU AI Regulation currently provides for fines of up to 35 million euros or 7% of a companys annual turnover.
